Membership

About

Nuclear Law Association invites persons belonging to the legal community to become members of the Association.  Membership is divided into the following categories:
  • Member
  • Associate Member
  • Student Member
  • Honorary Member
Member, Associate Member and Student Memberships are for 1 year, renewable on payment of prescribed fee.  Honorary Membership is for 2 years.  

Membership request are subject to approval by the Governing Board and payment of fees as stipulated by the Governing Board. The Governing Board reserves the right to approve membership at its discretion. Decision of the Governing Board shall be final, and will be communicated to the individual.


INLA members from India may seek to become Associate or Student Members of NLA. They are not required to pay additional NLA membership fee. The decision of the membership shall be at the discretion of the Governing Board.

Membership entitles

All members of the NLA are eligible for the following:

  • Becoming a member of specialized committees formed by NLA
  • Participant in preparing nuclear legal and policy review notes for deliberations
  • Organising conferences and workshop using NLA platform
  • Reduced fee for attending NLA conferences and workshops
  • Publishing through NLA
  • Availing discounts on NLA publication
  • Reduced fee for the courses offered by NLA in conjugation with other institutions
  • Student members manage student section of the NLA

‘Members’, in addition to the above:

  • Takes part and voting in General Body meetings;
  • Standing for election to the Governing Board; and
  • Providing a strategic direction to the Governing Board.

Membership Category

Member:

Members are Governing Board members and other persons inducted from the category of Associate Members. ‘Member’ category are limited in numbers and shall be approved by the Governing Board

Member’s are eligible to vote during General Body meetings and can contest election to be part of the Governing Board of the NLA.

Associate Members who seek ‘Member’ category must be a member of NLA for a minimum of one year. Members while renewing the membership may intimate to Secretary their intention to become ‘Member’. Governing Board may also at its discretion invite Associate, Student Members or any other professionals outside of NLA to become ‘Member’.

Associate Member

Associate Members covers the following individuals:

  • Lawyers practicing before any court or tribunal in India
  • Lawyers working with a firm, company or government
  • Legal academicians and researchers

Associate members are eligible to participate in the General Board meetings, but do not have any voting rights.

Student Member

A student of law, registered in a full-time course leading to a law degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s and Research Degrees) from a recognised university or institution can apply.

Student members do not have any voting rights.

Honorary Member:

The Governing Board may invite eminent individuals from legal, nuclear    science/technology or social and physical sciences profession to become an honorary member. 

No fees is payable by Honorary Members. Honorary members do not have any voting rights.
